Deshnok Temple

Deshnok Temple is also known as Karni Mata Temple where rats are seen to be the notable devotees as the temple abounds in rat population which is around 20,000. Local people say that they do not harm anyone and are only interested in stuffing their stomach with food. Holy is the adjective used for these sweet rats. The respected rats are treated like royals. The foundation of the temple was laid 600 year ago. It is located in Deshnok, Rajasthan. It is dedicated to goddess Karni who is an incarnation of goddess Durga.

The construction of this Deshnok Temple was brought to an end by Maharaja Ganga Singh in the 20th century. The architecture is in Mughal style which is simply remarkable.
