Amber Fort

Amber Fort, jaipurAmber Fort is one of the famous forts of Jaipur. It was delicately carved out in white marble and red sand stone atop a hill overlooking the charming Maota Lake. It was built by Maharaja Man Singh in 1592 and later additions were made by Raja Sawai Jai Singh I. Its architecture is a beautiful amalgamation of Hindu and Muslim styles. Raja Sawai Jai Singh I belonged to the Kachhwaha clan of Amber. The fort has bravely stood the test of time as it looks great not only from inside but from outside too. An elephant ride is the most commonly used mode of reaching the fort and is also a lot of fun. The fort houses several beautiful buildings in its ramparts such as:

Sheesh Mahal: It is a hall decked with mirror work.

Diwan-e-Khas It is a hall with exquisite colored glass work and was used for private audience by the royals.

Diwan-e-Aam: It is a hall of public audience having double row of beautiful pillars.

Shila Mata Temple: Famous for its silver gates.

Jai Mandir: You must see it if you wish to see starlit sky in the day time. The mirror work on its ceiling is amazing.

Ganesh Pol: It is famous for its Rajput paintings.

A walk around the Fort is a delightful experience for all visitors. The Fort even has a maze! Amber Fort is among the top tourist destinations of Jaipur.
