Birla Temple

Birla Temple, jaipurOne of the major attractions of Jaipur which is famous for its architecture is Birla Temple. The blissful temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the preserver, and his consort Goddess Lakshmi, who symbolizes wealth. Carved in pure white marble, the temple looks stunning when brightly lit at night. It was built in 1988 at the foot of Moti Dungri Fort, by the known Birla Group of Industries.

The Birla Temple is popularly known as the Laxmi Narayan Mandir and its contemporary architecture depicts several themes from Indian Hindu mythology. The delicately carved sculptures enthrall the onlookers. The sprawling lush green gardens are a sight to behold. The complex of the Birla Temple houses a museum where ancestral possessions of the Birla family are on display. The entry into the museum is free.

The divine idols inside the sanctum of the Birla Temple give a sense of peace and you feel as if they are talking to you. May be they have a message to pass! The beautiful marble idol of Lord Ganesha is the height of beauty when it comes to craftsmanship. It seems as if it is transparent. The walls of the temple are decorated with the images of great historical figures, philosophers and religious worthies such as Socrates, Zarathustra, Christ, Buddha, and Confucius.

If you are desirous to know about the intricacies of the architecture and Indian mythological figures, then you can hire a trained guide. You will get to hear some interesting stories.
