Umaid Bhawan Palace when built was the largest royal residence in the world. In 1971, the palace was converted into a heritage hotel which is now owned by Taj Group Of Hotels. A part of the palace still serves as the residence of the royal family of Gaj Singh and another portion was transformed into a small museum displaying pictures, arms, swords, and other items of historic importance.
