Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary

Wildlife Mount Abu WildlifeLocation: Sirohi district, Rajasthan

Major Attractions: Grey Jungle Fowl, Sloth Bear, Wild Boar, Sambar, Chinkara, Langur, and rich flora like orchids, wild rose and jasmine.

Other Attractions: Honeymoon Point, Dilwara temples, Nakki Lake, Gaumukh Lake and Sunset point.

Best Time to Visit: All round the year, particularly during summer

How to reach Mount Abu

By Air: Nearest Airport, Maharana Pratap Udaipur Airport, Udaipur. From here taxis and buses are easily available for Mount Abu.

By Rail: Mount Abu Road Railway station is well connected with the cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur.

By Road: Mount Abu has excellent roads that are well-connected with Ahmedabad, Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Udaipur.


ABOUT THE PARK


Nestled in the hilly region of Rajasthan, Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary is not only a wildlife sanctuary but a famed hill station too. It encompasses many temples as centuries ago it was an abode of saints. Set in the Aravali mountain range, it is spread over an area of 288 sq km and an important destination of Rajasthan. Its forest cover varies from sub-tropical thorn forests to sub-tropical evergreen forests. Some of the flora found here are kacchar, Kaionda, champa, mango, roses, phaludra and khajur Its vegetation consists of approximately 820 species of plants. The sweet scent of jasmine makes the ambiance pleasant. Travelers who are experts in botany can even locate some medicinal plants in the Sanctuary.


The wild inhabitants of this sanctuary are the Leopard, Sloth Bear, Wild Boar, Sambar, Chinkara, Langoor, Indian Civet, Hyena, Wild Boar, Sambhar, Pangolin, Porcupine, Jungle Cat, And Hedge hog. Grey jungle fowl seems to attract attention because of its large population here. You may get a chance to see a leopard busy with its activities in the wild.
