Hotel Umaid Bhawan Palace

Umaid Bhawan Palace is a magnificent palace which was built with the finest quality of one million square feet of golden yellow sandstone. Maharaja Umaid Singh of Jodhpur laid its foundation after his long search of a highly skilled architect. His search ended in 1925 in England where he commissioned the London firm Lanchester and Lodge. It was designed by Henry Vaughan Lanchester and its completion took almost 18 years involving around 300 artisans. It is a part of Desert triangle and is also a destination of the Palace On Wheels ( a luxurious train).

When it was built it was labeled as the largest royal residence in the world. The palace occupies 26 acres of land. The interiors of the Palace are of designed in an aristocratic European style with world-class facilities. In 1971 the palace was converted into a heritage hotel and is now among the most famous such hotels of Rajasthan. A stay here can fetch you a truly royal experience. A part of the complex has been transformed in a museum displaying several royal rarities.
