Mandawa

Mandawa is a small town located in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. It is around 190 km from Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. The forts and havelis (mansions of the noble and merchants) speak oodles about the royal history of Mandawa. The town is also famous for its cultural and social activities.

Mandawa is well connected with other cities of Rajasthan and can be easily accessed by road.

The Mandawa Fort is a beautiful and romantic piece of architecture. The entrance of the fort is delicately arched and depicts the Lord Krishna surrounded by his cows.

The Chokhani and Ladia havelis give you a sense of venturing into the glorious history of Rajasthan. Each haveli has its own charm.

The walls of the Binsidhar Newatia Haveli are adorned with distinctive paintings which arouse the curiosity of the tourists. The Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli has some marred sensual images on its walls.

Numerous themes were used for the paintings found in the fort and the havelis. Local legends, animals, royal portraits, hunting and wrestling scenes, trains, balloons, telephones, gramophones are a few to name.
