Adventure and Sports of Rajasthan

Adventure And Sports Of Rajasthan You have surely heard about the royal palaces and forts in Rajasthan, but what about the royal adventures? The versatile Rajasthan has it all. The erstwhile Maharajas took pride in pursuing adventurous sports. These are now enjoyed by the tourists to quench their thirst for one-of its-kind activities full of adventure. Rajasthanis have transformed their creative ideas into reality in the form of outdoor sports. Where the kings perfected the art of horse riding, safari and polo, the villagers were skilled in camel races and cart races. The varied topography of Rajasthan provides an ideal environment for outdoor activities like polo, golf, vintage car rally, para-sailing, ballooning, gliding trekking, camping, boating, angling and desert safaris. Come with us and grab this wonderful opportunity to embrace thrill, pleasure and adventure.

In the lap of mother nature, Rajasthan has its own share of rich Wildlife sanctuaries and National parks (famous ones include Ranthambore National park, Sariska and Keoladeo Ghana National Park) where thrill and escapade makes your adrenaline level into top gear. Enjoy the wilderness by secretly watching the Royal Bengal Tiger catching its prey and migratory birds taking a free ride on crocodile's back. The choice is yours.

Your visit to Rajasthan is very much incomplete without trying out a camel safari. Embark on a journey to the arid land where sand dunes dance on the rhythm of the billowing winds. A place where wandering minstrels lived in the harsh conditions entertaining people with their dance and music and still their faces beamed with big smiles. Try a different experience of staying in luxury camps in the unfathomable desert, digging on delicious camp meals and a sound sleep under the star studded sky. Just think, how heavenly these experiences must be!

Some of the adventurous sports available in Rajasthan are:

Ballooning: Want to go to the Pushkar fair (largest fair in India), how about flying to the fair? Yes, we will take you safely in hot air balloons to make a heroic entry. You can fly over the nearby cities such as Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Kota and Udaipur on these hot air balloons.

Polo: Polo was the favorite sport of Maharajas of Rajasthan. They used to play for hours together and this game even won world-wide publicity for India. If you are skilled at polo or a polo playing member, or just want to be a spectator, this is a great place. Polo is played here on camel, horse, elephant and even on bicycle.

Camping: Very popular with the tourists journeying to Rajasthan. Camps are set in wonderful locations. The tents include bedrooms, leisure area and attached wash room. To create the royal ambiance visually rich fabrics with royal paintings are used inside the tents. If required these movable tents are shifted from place to place.

Trekking: The topography of Rajasthan is fantastic for trekking. The Mewar belt of Udaipur-Kumbhalgarh, Mount Abu or the Sariska-Alwar-Amer belt, both are idyllic for trekking.

Kite flying: Rajasthanis are very passionate about kite-flying. This sport is full of fun and frolic. Beautifully made kites of different hues flying in the sky is a sight to behold. Several competitions are held among the kite-fliers that attract people from around the world.

Cycling: Enjoy the therapeutic sport of cycling in the areas like Ghana national park or use it in commuting to the fairs or to places in close vicinity of your accommodation.

Vintage car rally: The Maharajas were the first ones to buy the motorcars in India and gradually their passion for driving became one of the popular sports in Rajasthan. An annual event, the Jaipur Vintage car rally (recent addition) has become a hit with people. You can even hire these vintage cars for rides.

Water sports:

If you think that water sports are a foreign concept in Rajasthan, then you must rethink. Large lakes present there made this dream a reality. Water games during the Asian Games in 1982, held at Ramgarh in Jaipur marked the beginning of water sports.

Boating: You can enjoy boating at several places in Rajasthan. Almost all lakes offer this opportunity. Navigate through the waters of Rajasthan enjoying the scenic beauty around.

Water-Skiing: A new addition to the list of water sports. Do ask your ground operator to make arrangements for the equipments required for this sport if you wish to try your hand at these sports, because the availability of equipments is limited.

Angling: The lakes here buzz with fish and your efforts can fetch you great rewards. You need to obtain a license for fishing in most of the lakes. You can bring your own equipment for fishing or you can even hire it here. The choice is yours.

Safaris: Enjoy the safaris on camel, elephant, horse or jeep, there is so much choice. You can even try them all for the thrills. Each safari will offer you unforgettable experience. Camel safari is a must experience, as it will surely take you into the past of Rajasthan.
