Culture Of Rajasthan
The official language of the state is Hindi but English is also spoken in its cities. The primary spoken language is Rajasthani. And there are different dialects in different regions. The people of Rajasthan wear dresses of vibrant colors and men are equally inclined towards jewelry as its women. The desert comes alive with vibrant fairs and festivals which are celebrated with great pomp and show. World's largest cattle fair 'Pushkar Fair' is a famous across the globe. Festivals like Teej, and Gangaur are especially meant for women who take out processions in the streets. Kite festival and elephant festival are fully packed with fun and attracts participants from both India and abroad. Dance and Music flow in the blood of Rajasthanis and no celebration is complete without them. Each region has its own form of dance and music. The most famous dances are Ghoomar, Bhavai, and the Fire dance. Rajasthanis are good at both festive and devotional music. Rajasthan is synonymous with handicrafts and the bazaars of Rajasthan offer a wide variety of handicraft items like blue potteries, tie and dye fabric, block print fabric, embroidered footwear and carpets. When it comes to Rajasthani miniature paintings the palaces and forts are the best places to be at. The walls, ceilings and corridors are adorned with stunning paintings exhibiting Mughal and Rajasthani style. The themes range from hills, trees, gardens, lakes palaces to sand dunes of the desert. The use of bright color reflects the passion. Puppet shows are not only organized for entertainment but also for spreading awareness on social issues like education for the girl child and child labor. Majority of the people follow Hindu religion in Rajasthan. Jains and Muslims are the other religious people found here. Jewelry, Gems and Stones, Leather Craft, Woodcarving, and Painting are an integral part of Rajasthani art and craft. The taste of Rajasthani cuisine is something the tourists can never forget. The cooks here have perfected the art of cooking both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes which are simply mouth- watering. The cuisine of Rajasthan reflects the passion for hunting of its Royals as well as the needs of living the desert.
