Best time to visit: from November till March Attractions: The Thar Desert Ecosystem, Great Indian Bustard(an endangered species) Rajasthan - Jaisalmer - Desert National Park How to reach there : Air : Jodhpur and Jaisalmer Rail : Jaislamer Road : Jodhpur Desert National Park: Desert, sand dunes, rough rocks, pavements and wood fossils form the topography of Desert National Park. As it is clear from the name, it is not rich in flora. However, population of the fauna is quite good encompassing blackbuck, chinkara, wolf, Indian fox, desert fox, hare, desert cat and great Indian Bustard. The topography also supports the existence of spiny-tail lizard. Desert National Park is among the largest national parks in India. Avian species that have made a home here are sandgrouse, gray partridge, quails, peafowl and some insects eating birds like bee-eaters, shrikes, orioles, drongos, warblers and babblers. Keep your eyes open for great Indian Bustard; this park has played an important role in its preservation. Remember to carry your binoculars and camera with you. Accommodation: Jaisalmer the nearest town is a popular destination and has accommodation to suit all budgets and tastes. There are also two forest lodges within the park.
